Sports Suspension-how Do You Tell?

Featured Replies

How can you tell if you've got sports suspension on an octy estate? I've just got a 55plate 1.9tdi elegance and find the suspension hard. fair enough I had a superb v6 before.

17" wheels if it's the factory fit option.

The standard set up is fairly hard too mind.

... and 30mm lower ride height than 'standard'.

Cheers, it's got 16's on it. I'll maybe get the measuring tape out anyway and check.

Have to say it sticks to the road, so it was a great drive over scottish highlands at weekend.

16" with a plastic cap over the middle to cover up the caps means most likely it's standard. That sticks pretty well too mind ;)

Yep, the standard Octavia is pretty firm as standard. :)

That almost certainly rules out getting a vrs in future then, unless I'm going to sit on a cushion the whole time

I wouldn't say that mine is particularly firm to be honest - just about right IMO.

The standard ride is about right if not a little 'jiggly' and unsettled under certain conditions.

It feels firm after being in a car with relatively slushy suspension (Superb and Audi A4 in my case) but you get used to it quickly and the rewarding cornering ability sweetens it all up a little :D

I've just seen what you drove before, very nice. Is the vRS pretty similar to the TT in terms of suspension then?

I did originally report that the octy II was fidgety at speed but now I'm used to it after a couple of weeks, I'd say it's just more responsive feeding back so much of what's happening. Roads that I thought were smooth in the Superb now have bumps on them.

It's all good though
