Weird Clutch Octavia '99

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm hoping you might be able to help my mum out!

She has an Octavia '99 (T reg) and it's playing havok at the moment. I took it for a drive yesterday to see...and it seems the clutch isn't working properly.

First of all, you have to raise it nearly all the way out before it bites and a lot of the time it shudders.

Also, if you put it in first, go to second and really rev it, the car almost loses the 'bite' and the revs go right up as if you're not in gear at all. To fix it I had to release the throttle and gently reapply it.

I can also hear funny grinding sounds in the car when in lower gears.

Anyway, my Mum think's it going to cost *loads* and it too scared to take it into a garage as she think's she won't be able to afford the repairs.

I'm hoping some of you may be able to give me/her a heads up on what the problem might be and associated costs.

Many thanks for reading this!

Jon

your clutch is knackerd.it will get worse untill eventually you'll have no drive.prices seem to vary depending on where you live. ring your local mr clutch and expect to pay a couple of hundred.

If you leave it too long, you'll score the flywheel as well.
