Realistic prices

Featured Replies

Skoda Approved Website prices for nearly new cars seem as much as new and more than brokers are quoting. What would you realistically expect to pay?

What levels of discount have members achieved?

Thanks

This was my experience when looking for a year old vRS. Decided, what with £1665 off rrp, it was worth going brand new....so I did :)

That's exactly what I saw , so I bought a new one with about 8.5% off list price.

Take along some printouts from various brokers to your local dealers and see how close they can get.

Also take printouts from Glass's guide to show you have a decent idea of what your part-ex is worth (free from the Vauxhall site)

Dealers aren't interested in Glass guides IMHO. You're far better off selling privately beforehand, much as its a pain and hassle. Dealer offered me £10k for my previous car, I sold privately for over £12k :)

I think i did ok on mine, bought it from the approved dealer back in December when it was 17months old. Paid £13500 and that car has quite a few extras, woudl have cost 19K new on list price so knock off maybe at the most £1500 - 2000 if you haggled on the new price........ meaning I saved about £3500 to £4000 by buying a used one. Not bad.

Yep that's what I found as well but there are cars out there that aren't on Skoda's Approved list that are being sold by dealers that want to 'move them on' (if you know what I mean). You'll probably find that they will be cheaper and a few phone calls or a web search via the dealers own sites may be a better way of finding them.
