this really bugs me

Featured Replies

this annoys me real bad  when people ask what car u drive to which i repeat proudly a fabia VRS...... they turn their nose up and laugh while repating the word skoda! :finger: i just want to slap them cos they obviously know nothing about cars or this ones particular build quality and manufacture!

Someone told me skoda have won more rally championships than any other manufacturer. When people stick their noses up at mine I just say that.

I do it the other way - say 'A Skoda', and then judge from their reaction whether to bother saying 'VRS', it's lost on the majority of Vauxhall/Beemer drivers.

There just nobs.

Lad at my work is an absolute materialistic fanny.

He has a 225 audi tt, < thinks it the business, theres no way a fabia VRS would come near it ;) what a pleb.

So i take him for a run in my remapped VRS and he is gobsmacked... said he would consider one to run back and forward to work...

.... Next day, he says he spoke to the 'wife' says she turned her nose up and said if you get one of them you will be alone....

What a pair of snobby materialistic prats!!.....

I have that as well, but people are more positive saying have improved a lot but still get the occasional one who turns their nose up.

Was just a cooper mind, no s

I've had it a few times, but usually when I say Skoda Fabia people will say "Oh yeah I like those sporty ones, what are they VRS"

And I say that's the one I drive :D

Most people who know anything about cars know that they are VW-Audi with a different badge.

I used to get this alot with my Type R, people would ask what I drive and id say a Honda Civic, the usual reply was "there an old persons car"!

Still get it with the Fabia so iv given up trying to explain and now just say a Skoda and ignore there daft comment's about Skips and Cake..

I like the car and everyone who goes in it is impressed so im happy

Don't worry about it. If someone's too wrapped up about the badge more than the car then they obviously don't know or care a lot about cars. If you speak to anyone who knows anything about cars they'll know know it's a decent car.

Don't worry about it, life's too short

I generally get...

'they're basically a VW anyway' or 'they're pretty nippy those things'

Oddly enough I get the second one mainly from men in petrol stations / garages, when I make no mention of the car at all :o

Not sure which key the VRS has, but if it's the rectangle one with the flip out key make sure you have it in you hands when you're talking to anyone who owns a WV/audi/Bentley who's turning their nose up. They'll have the same key.... (I can't beleive the Bentley has the same electic window switches as my fabia, crazy...)

why do you care what others think

my skoda's perfect in every way......to be honast when i got my golf i never thought i would drive a skoda but i find it better to drive in many ways ! just a shame about the plain dashboard :(

People at my work made fun at first too. Then I took 'em to see it, and blew their saxos off on the way home. Soon changed their minds after that. They did laugh when my rear doors started to leak tho...

The way I see it it's always satisfying to watch the reaction in the rear view mirror when you pull away from some idiot in a BMW who's 'Right up your pipe' (so to speak) after slowing down in traffic on the motorway.

But the look on their face is priceless when you do it in a 'Cheap Skoda hatchback' :D

I like it its unique and not many around my end. Just like clearing the soot out now and again when the ***** are behind

Hardly anyone has one around me, espeically at my age.

The general move for most people my age is from Corsa/Saxo/Clio 1.1 to Honda Civic 1.4, Astra 1.8 or something else generic!

Chill!

I've got an MX5 now. It's a great little sportscar rated throughout the motoring world.......

Except by those who haven't got one/driven one who insist it's a ladies car/ hairdressers car or I'm gay:D

Who cares. Its grrrreat:thumbup:(as were my skodas)

im a fabia owner and proud of it, i dont give a monkey what others think :saythat:

It's a bit odd, but what I enjoy now is just letting the impatient people overtake me around half-blind corners and risk their lives, only for me to overtake them again when we get to the dual carriageways/long straight A roads.... :D
