K&N induction kit

Featured Replies

Does a K&N induction kit make a significant difference to a standard VRS TDI ?

I saw some rolling road figures on here recently with a VRS TDI with a marked power/torque increase but the only mod indicated was a K&N induction kit.

Is it really that effective ?

I can only say; "The proof is in the pudding"; 189.3bhp!

I always run on Shell V-power diesel with Millers DieselSport 4 so it is hard to say, without separate tests, what improvement this gives on top of the K&N kit; but I'd guess plus 10-12bhp for the K&N and plus 5-8bhp for the V-Power/Millers. (assuming the 'stock' output is 170-175bhp).

Compared to another vRS TDI on the RR day, I had no higher max torque (we both got 284/280 ftlb) so also guess that the principal benefit of the induction kit is better breathing at higher rpm; it also give a good throaty roar on full throttle with a fair bit of whooshing and hissing at lower rpm/throttle openings.

Wow thats rather impressive.

How much was it , how easy was it to fit and where did you get it from ?

£117.50 plus P&P

Pretty easy if you are competent with a spanner and screwdriver; very comprehensive instructions supplied from K&N including photos (may be available on their website); I short cut a couple of the early stages about removing and refitting the MAF to get the OE airbox removed, seemed unnecessary.
and where did you get it from ?
here;- 57i Induction Kits | Induction Kits | Demon Tweeks Motorsport, Motorcycle, Modifying, Parts and Accessories

Listed for Golf V 2.0L TDI but if you check back on K&N's website you will see the same part no listed for all VAG group 2.0L TDI (inc Octavia).
