Side Repeater Indicators

Featured Replies

Hi all,

How easy is it to remove the small side repeater lens, is it just a matter of gently prising it out? Owner's manual states you should take it to the dealer !

I've had my car (03 Comfort 130bhp TDI) for just over a week now and love it.:)

Mine went (03 Superb Elegance) and local garage said it was a nightmare to replace. If you try and tease it off it will snap, they said. Had to take it back to where I bought the car and they replaced the unit under warranty.

Mayber others have different experience but would suggest caution at this stage!

This is a 5 minute change job as I replaced mine from clear to smoked ones......

I can explain how to do this if you want to know?

Baker21,

I was thinking of getting some smoked ones.

It would be a big help if you could post how to do it.

Are smoked lenses easy to get hold of?

Thanks

Firstly, I am confident I have a part number for these at home so I could post it up later if you wanted?

Fitment wise, the best way to do it, without damaging the paintwork is to rotate your front wheels so you can get good access to the back of the wheel lining, then unscrew the lower torx screw that holds the lining to the wing, you will need to undo a fe of them going from the back of the wheel lining to the front of the wheel lining but no more than those halfway round, then pull the lining away and you will be able to get your hand up behind the wing and touch the side repeater, then you just need to compress both clips together on the side of he repeater and it will pop out, remove the bulbholder and your done...........

Comprehensive answer as ever Baker21:thumbup: That's why I qualified my initial response.............

Must tell my local garage how it's done. They will be impressed

If it's a dealer then they are always looking to make money on these 5 minute jobs otherwise it's not worth it to them...............

Baker21, thanks for taking the time to help.

If you could post the part number that would be great.

Cheers

If I have the numbers i will post them up but either way I will update this thread this evening...............

Easy job to do, did mine not long after I got the car, didnt like the white/clear ones so got the smoked ones, undid the wheel arch liner and got in behind it and popped them out.

Cheap modification but a really effective thing - highly recommended!

OK, I have a 'Cash Sale INvoice' dated the 12/11/2005 for the following:

S6K0949127 - N/STOCK INDICATOR at a unit price of £6.01 each all in £14.12 inc VAT.

Just to clarify that this is for the smoked side repeaters and I hope that helps..............

What other VAG cars are these fitted to...Audi A4's ??? Can these be bought from the likes of GSF, Euro car parts or general motorist discount centres??

Audi A4 B5 and Audi A3's as well.......

I guess you could source them from those places but they are just as cheap from the dealer............

Hi mate , I bought some from e-bay for mine, you have to look for them as an Audi part, they look good:thumbup: and there posted to your door! link below

Hi There,

Carolyn wanted these on her Superb so we got some off ebay.

Basically did what baker21 suggests and apart from scraping your arms a bit it wasn't dificult.

Cheers

I didn't want to mention the arm scrapping, otherwise I knew people wouldn't want to make the mod themselves......

Ah ha - the truth has come out:eek:

As mentioned in my earlier post, my garage said it would be a nightmare to do if I tried it myself. I can see their reasons now - shredded arms and dirt all down the pin striped suit:eek:

Reminder to self: if Baker21 says it's a 5 minute job then that's because he knows exactly what he's doing. For those not gifted that way and with a bit of rheumatics, then the local friendly garage might be the best option

No matter, thanks for telling us how it's done. Always good to learn from this site:thumbup:

It's not that bad but with most tasks you will either struggle to get your arm or hand in somewhere but once you have done it you will realise that it's not as difficult as you thought..............I just love taking things apart........don't you guys?!?!

Maybe a bit late with this post, but take care if trying to fit these from B5 platform A4s or Passat B5 as these cars use the rectangular ones same as Golf 4 and newer Polos, and these ones are a bit trickier to remove as one end has a "vee" and the other end has a spring clip - somtimes difficult to work out which end your dealing with. In theory you just push the fitting forward or rearwards and ease up one end - safer to loosen the liner and let your fingers do the "feeling" - but still a sore arm job on these cars too! (no gain without pain!!)

Don't confuse things mate, your referring to the facelift A4's and Passat's........

Sorry for any confusion - I've changed the wording in my previous posting to what I meant to say. What I was concerned about was that someone might waste their money buying the 97> Passat indicators or A4s of that era and find that the parts did not fit for the reason that I gave.
