Badge Painting

Featured Replies

Give that a good rubbing down first, leave a nice key for the paint to grab hold of. Then spray with an etching primer before top coat.

I used to have an old polo and did exactly the same!!!

Sanded it down first to removed any remaining chrome etc them primed it (just can of grey primer) and then sprayed it with a gloss white... Turned out good and lasted as long as the car did!

EDIT:

Also did the rear badges, door handle strip thingys and the little covers that cover the wheel nuts/centre of wheel.

Edd China did this when he did the MK1 Golf GTI.

He rubbed it down to give a key ( he didn't remove the chrome, just scored the surface) then sprayed on acid etched primer the a couple of coats of paint, mat black in his case to bring the front end back to original!

HTH.

Hello All -

I was just wondering if any off you have removed and painted the badges on your car. I have the following badge:

POLO FRONT CHROME VW GRILLE BADGE ~ LATE 80s on eBay, also, Volkswagen, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 10-Feb-08 20:49:46 GMT)

I wish to paint it white. The badge is Chrome as stated so undercoat/ Prime or what -

Help....

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Sand down with some wet and dry 1200, keep wetting it as you do it. Degrease it, and the rest is up to you.
