Super Glue removal

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a good way to remove superglue from the dash plastic? The Loctite stuff says do not use on hard plastics so that is ruled out. If possible I do not want to use a Razorblade and no metioning of a blowtorch either.

Have you tried picking it off with a pair of tweezers??

It's stuck fast. I've even tried graffiti gel to ry to loosen it.

New dash? When I am in work tonight I will pop down to A&E and get some of the superglue remover for fingers. Seriously try a razor blade as well.

IIRC superglue sets exothermically, so even if you did manage to get it off, the underlying plastic will be scarred...

Rob.

Yes, there is a chemical to do it, but can't remember the name of it. I've got some at home and I'll have a look if you haven't cracked it by then.

There is an EVO-STICK thinner, but I wanted to hear other suggestions before I try anything.

 Strewth,it's car trim trade advice day for me..should be charging!!

As you may or may not have read on the fraying seat cover thread I'm in the car trim trade.

Superglue on dashboards. Oh 'ell, why do people stick things on there  Quite simply you WON'T do a totally invisible removal. If you can, then please let me know how,and I'll really be in business!!

I scrape for ages with the leading edge of a blade,(loads of dust,)texture coat and colur match

Depending on where on the dash' it is and the texture finish I can get a reasonable finish.

If you live in the n.west Ill have a look at it for you, failing that look in yellow pages probably under car body repairs, for a specialist such as myself that does S.M.A.R.T. repairs.

If you use superglue removal,it'll damage the surface and you'll therefore still have a problem fixing that!

I'm quite close to the NW as long as it is NW London you are talking about :D.

The glue is on the centre console so if I cannot remove it and get a decent finish I may need to buy a replacement (Jason sold his and was the wrong colour before anyone says).

if you haven't cracked it by then.
I hope that wasn't meant to be a pun, Simon! :)

Jeff - no ideas for removing it totally. You might have to live with a small amount left. No way to disguise it?

Put some superglue symmetrical to the one currently on the dash then call it an optional extra :D

Someone appreciates me :D

that would be that big round blob where the tomtom thingy used to held then. Getting it off though is a pain, as its on the side of the console I dont think it will show to much.
