mp3 player?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where u can buy and if such is available a jack plug to go into the back of the radio of a MK1 octy vrs to enable u to plug in an mp3 player? Someone told me it couldn't be done as the only available socket on the back of the radio is taken up by the 6 disc autochanger lead any ideas?

There is a little thing which comes up on ebay from time to time which somehow integrates with the CD changer. As I understand it, the head unit sees it as the 6th disc (so the changer becomes a 5 disc changer)... the 6th disc is actually whatever you plug into the unit (mp3 player in this case).

I can't see one on there at the moment but it's worth keeping a look out. They tend to be around £45, I don't know how good they are as I've never used one.

cheers guys most helpful now i know u can do it :D

I had a cheapo cassette thing, was loud, looked at the itrip radio type things etc, then bought top of range sony tape conversion for a whoppin £7 and its better sound quality than my CD player! dead quiet, cant hear tape at all.

just my tuppence worth, especially as in car radio would also have a wire to charge to the cigarette lighter.

I bought a Sony head unit from Halfrauds that came with the little magic box that when plugged into your ipod, displays the track and album/ artist details as an extra disc changer, selectable via the head unit.

Sadly it was crap as every time the car was switched off, the ipod reset and had to be selected to the preffered music all over again. Also because you could only see 1 line of text at a time, it took forever to scroll through to find the album you wanted if you have a lot on your ipod.

My solution was to mount the ipod on a springy suction thing on the windscreen within easy sight/reach and cabled it into the aux port on the front of the head unit. No interference and easy to use. Looks a bit crap but its worth it!!!:)

I've got an aux rca cable coming out the back of my Alpine unit, i plugged the mp3 player into that but it still wont play. :(

Time to start looking to see if it's actually connected to the head unit.
