Hi, I have a 54 plate mkI octavia VRS and whilst driving to work the other day the ESP light came on and stayed on. When it came to leaving work the light remained on and on pulling away the engine management light came on. They've been on since. I had the car checked out at the skoda dealer and they said the MAF meter signal was too low. They couldn't tell me why. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this? Cheers.

Could be the MAF sensor needs cleaning.

The ESP light does come on when the MAF is disconnected, tried it last week to see if the car performs the same.

You could try cleaning the MAF or replacing it. There are a couple of cleaning guides on the site.

I had similar recently and it was an engine speed sensor unplausable signal, cleared the fault codes with VAGcom and its never come back.

New MAF meter, problem solved.
