Turbo dynamics Turbos?????

Featured Replies

Need some advice on choosing a turbo.

I have settled on turbo dynamics to do the work, now i just need to choose stage 1 or stage 2

I still use the car everyday to commute so it still needs to be driver friendly.

Would the stage 2 definatly require larger injectors? Is the stage 2 any more laggy than the stage 1.

Anyone running these turbos have any dyno graphs or power outputs???

Car is suitably modified to take the turbo, will just need another remap once done.

Any help is appriecatied.

cheers john

I was going to run a RR but due to a crash that never happened :P

I had a superchips map on mine but it was a mild map, 'only' 200bhp, very smooth.

The stage 2 didnt seem more laggy, it spools up about 100 rpm later roughly when comparing maps but it's cool. The bigger injectors are needed if you want the max power. Very driver friendly, never put a foot wrong with stage 1 nor stage 2 and was very happy with them.

Still got the stage 2 but as the engine is in the written off vehicle I couldnt give you RR results just yet ;)

What are the cars modifications.

IMHO if you go for a hybrid you'd need a FMIC of some sort, SMIC wont do you any favours.

Also I'd want some Eibach/Konis or similar, rear ARB, and uprated front brakes to keep the car 'balanced'.

Clutch, well I doubt it would last unless you totally tune out the torque spike, which would take a fair bit of fun away - the great thing is that these things will make it pull very hard up to redline :)

What are the cars modifications.

Just put in a brand new DMF and sach performance clutch

Green panel+ pd160

Have just ordered a forge FMIC so that will be on before too long.

Straight through decat pipe and oem backbox.

312mm brakes with mintex extreme pads

jabba ARB

Will probably be sporting a set of eibach/fsd combo shortly.

Think thats it for in performance terms.......

I was thinking that if i did get the stage 2 at least then i have the option of bigger injectors and more power when i get bored :D

I think i might just go for the daddy stage 2 then, after all its only £50 extra :D

Defiantly go for the Stage 2 turbo, as said above it is only £50 more. I have the Stage2 unit and would recommend it 110%. It really is an awesome bit of kit and the company as a whole have a reputation for providing some of the best hybrid turbos petrol or diesel in the business.

another vote for stage 2 here. Fine with OEM injectors and even better with uprated injectors....

I have the stage 2. When it gets to 4k rpm the power doesn't tail off like with a standard turbo. It keeps pulling to the limiter.

Stage 2 it is then

thanks guys :D Will keep you updated with the outcome

stage 1 doesnt tail off either but if you are already nudging towards injectors, it's a no-brainer :D

Stage 2 now. Why would you want to have wished you had later? :)
