this has been a thread before but hey - - front brakes on the felly, uprgrades? was out in it last night an theres a great road by me, lil straight , s bend, long straight then a progressive right handed wit a rounabout at the end of it. anyhows - shootin dwn that last night, apprachi the rounabout, slight tap with the brakes, an again, thens full on the brakes, nows the car took its time t slow an also felt very odd under brakin, like it slid a bit an puled right ( one did lose breathe as a iveco truck was on coming) so i thought wrre better t ask than here, this place rocks!

was thinkin a disc conversion????:thumbup:

will. i'm running a set of zerosixty grooved and dimpled discs, with some EBC greenstuff pads. this is more than most people will need.

however. tom an i have been working on a big brake convertion (well, tom figured it out but looks like i'm gunna be first to test it) it uses the discs off a G60 corrado and some willwood calipers.

if its a stock engine in it, the stock brakes are more than adequate if maintained properly

all you need is cajones the size of watermelons:thumbup:

Or alternatively teflontoms upgrade plan:D

I brake til it locks up, then steer til it scrapes the doorhandles...

basically, I drive it like a works van:thumbup:

the brakes are poor, the engine is not powerful and the handling is "entertaining" to say the least...

all in all, it makes it more fun when you successfully hustle it doen your favourite backroad:D:rofl:

discs = £50

calipers = £150

line adapters = £5

custom made caliper mounts = are you good friends with a machinist?

like you stole it then..

like you stole it then..

nope- I treat things I steal better;)

I personally think that the brakes are decent enough so long as you change fluid every few years and make sure pads and discs are ok

for normal driving i would agree.

but if you like your B road bashing, you'll soon find the oober fade a little annoying:thumbdwn:.

once you've got some performance pads and better discs on you'll see exactly what i mean.:thumbup:

I remember when i had my felicia hatch, and used to look at ebay regularly for felly bits, there was a rear beamy bit converted for use with discs. Was being sold by a shop (in wales i think) and they had a couple - were made for the rally cars. I so almost bought one :)

Not sure how easy it is converting the rear brakes to discs but i did read a story of handbrakes slipping when the cooled down.

:confused:

then leave it in 1st

Mintex pads.

Don't bother with rear discs. Never mind that it's a lot of work, when you know that the dynamic weight distribution moves to something like 90% front, 10% rear under hard braking, you can see that rear drums are quite adequate anyway.
