Skoda Fabia Front Speaker Size And Sounddeadning

Featured Replies

ive allready done a search but didnt see this mentioned, what size speakers will fit in a skoda fabia classic 1.4mpi? 6.5 inch? and is there enough space for adding that soundproofing to improve sound? or is it a tight fit

Can anyone help me out

Regards Dan

EDIT Found that 6.5inch in the front is standard but is this on all fabia's?

plenty of room for sound deadening on the inner skin onf the door and the back of the silver door panel. Also an idea to put a layer of foam inbetween the plastic door panel and the door to help stop rattles.

Actually the speaker depth is quite limited, about 6 cm at very maximum but this might result in the membrane touching the door trim panel.

I ended up buying a flat (neodymium magnet) speaker (Im right in the middle of doing the install, fninshed deadening the outer skin).

Concerning the speaker depth, I spent lot of time searching the forums about the max depth that fits in the fabia. Someone even put a 7cm depth speaker in it. So I removed the door trim and took out the factory speaker. This is how it looks like:

trim <-----4cm-----> silver metal plate <------2cm------> window rail

Maybe you can put a >6cm speaker there as others did, but I think it'll be pushing the trim out, and the moving membrane might touch the trim also. You should check this yourself. I didn't find a "normal" speaker with back magnet that shallow, so I bought an Audio System 165 Radion flat (it's 42mm deep).

Sounddeadening: plenty of space on outer and inner skin. The silver plate has to be removed for the outer skin. I'm not familiar with cabling and amplifying. Since the silver plate was off anyway, I put an 2x1.5mm2 (16awg???) OFC speaker cable in it. Some time later I'm planning to put a small 2ch amp underseat, no sub... but I don't know if it's a good strategy or not... I'd be thankful for any comments...

Thanks you for your comments on this thread as it will be help me out! Ive just looked up the speakers i like and there bigger so i dont think they will fit :(

Its any of these 3

Car Audio Direct - Hertz Dieci DCX 165 - Speakers

Car Audio Direct - Hertz Dieci DSK 165 - Speakers

Car Audio Direct - Hertz Energy ECX 165.3 - Speakers

i just want to check so there is no way they will fit? its a shame because hertz audio have been number 1 in many car magazines ive read. bnud3 how much sound deading did you actually need? because you buy it in sheets dont you? I think your plan will work very well using different speaker cable and using a amplifier should stop any kind of distortion and should give a good sound quality

This way my setup would consist of two 16.5cm front components, amplified by a 2ch amp underseat. I need the boot space, so I plan no subwoofer. The sound quality would probably be OK, with somewhat better lows due to the sounddeadening.

I wouldn't recommend you using coaxial speakers as two of the Hertzs are. The component one is much better, but this one may not fit. I recommend you taking off the doorcard and have a look for yourself.

I've put a whole sheet of dynamat extreme and ~40% of a Tacmat sheet on outer skin, small patches of extreme on the backside of inner skin, and small patches of cheaper bitumen (sinus live ADM) on frontside of inner skin. I was afraid of putting bitumen on outer skin where it might melt.

I still don't know if I will use some acoustic foam behind the plastic door trim.

Thank you for your reply again

My setup that ive been thinking about would be

-Headunit

-Speaker Upgrade

-Acoustic Sound Deadning

-Speaker Cable

-Underseat Concealable Sub

Yes i agree with you on the matter of using component speakers over coaxial, but where can i mount the tweaters? not sure how to go about that one!

Yes i do need to look so i can work some things out and work out what will fit and what wont, luckily i get the car on monday nite so ill be checking it out soon im sure :D

Have you tried your system out and does it sound like an upgrade over the oem unit?

Regards Dan
