Life with the vRS

Featured Replies

After upgrading from an 03 fiesta 1.4 tdci to my 05 fabia vrs a couple of weeks ago i thought id post a review about the differences.

Well to start with stats:

Fiesta 68hp 160nm

Fabia 130hp 310nm

As you can see its nearly double the power and i'm enjoying being able to overtake everything in sight without having to thrash the hell out of it. The fiesta used to be reasonably swift up to about 50mph but i wouldnt call it fast. Whereas the vRS just pulls like a train. Its unbelievably quick in the mid range. And its not slow away from the line either.

The only thing that lets the fabia down a bit is the cornering at speed. It has terrible understeer when pushing hard but i suppose its to be expected with a big 1.9 derv lump under the bonnet. The fiesta on the other only having a 1.4 lump used to corner realy well. Im getting used to it though. Thinking slow in the corners, fast on the straights! icon7.gif

After spending £8000 on the car and £1200 on the insurance, Im 19 with 2years NCB, I'm looking at doing a few cheap mods to begin with. But i want to use vag parts and keep the factory look. Don't want to give any more power yet because of the big leap from the fiesta.

Was thinking of getting a seat strut brace and pd160 intake. What you think?

So far im enjoying fabia. I was a big fan already as my mum has had a 54 plate model from new and it was impressive from the passenger seat. But its super impressive to drive!

Cheers Luke.

Don't bother with the strut brace, they do practically nothing, and impede access to the air filter.

save up some dosh and get a rear arb instead, which will make a vast difference to the handling.

PD160 is a good and popular mod on here, go for a whiteline arb think about £117.

You don't have to go overboard on the vRS it has everything you woukd want and it's quick.

Fort id post a pic of my vRS. The only thing i don't like is the aftermarket dab radio and the silly aerial attached to windscreen that goes with it. Might sort it out at sum point. Well my dad will. Lol.

Advantages of having a dad that worked in F1 are FREE Labour! LOL

nice looking vRS mate in the second best colour.

Last I heard, Hamilton ditched his Roberts radio for an MP3 player. :thumbdwn:

Leave Ron Dennis alone. By the way, What are Drum & Bass? Are they a new band? Never heard any of their songs. :P

its what all saxo drivers in baseball caps have pumping out of cheap systems, while cruzing round town centres so i'm told:rolleyes:

I'll second that

Definatley go for the rear anti role bar mate, best mod by miles and it will transform the handling of your car.

Id then save your pennys for some eibach springs. They will lowerer it just enough for you to notice but it wont look stupid! Also they will improve the handling and nose dive by alot as well
