Can You Run It?

Featured Replies

Just thought i'd share my little find.

Came accross it while searching around for system requirements of Assassins Creed on the PC due for release on 28th march!

It basically analyses your system against a chosen game (big list of them to choose from) and tells you if your pc will run the game ok or not.

Happy gaming!

p.s. i now know that my system has the minimum and recomended specs for the game.... pre-ordering on play now!

 Good application that. Although it makes you want to spend money on upgrades!

Hehe... im ok for now! But i know there will be a game out some time where my little green bars fall below the "min" point! lol

this is a rubbish thing really as its only for minimum spec, according to that my laptop won't run the game as it requires 256Mb video memory but mine has 128mb dedicated and upto 256Mb dynamically but i don't expect for one second that it would run the game in any reasonable fashon.

It obviously doesn't pick up on that as its not using the maximum memory as you run the test becuase it doesn't need to... it probably would run it, but like you say not in a resonable fashion.

What i found weird is that it said that i had 1.5GB of graphics memory! It must share some of the computers memory with the graphics card to bump it up from 768 to 1.5! lol

i take it you have an 8800gtx then?

or do you have 2 of them?

the tool is not that accurate. I tried it on my pc, which I have tried to run COD4 on and due to the graphics card being a base 8 series nvidia jobbie it runs like a dog, but acording to "can you run it" my system far exceeds the recomended settings in all areas.

no just the one...

Have just looked in the info on the nvidia control panel and it says there....

768MB dedicated and 768MB shared system memory... so it obviously "steals" system memory when it needs it... although i'd be suprised if you were running a game that needed more than 768MB!

EDIT:

The tool just reads your system and tells you if you can run it based upon the recomended and minimum requirements given by the game makers... which are never true to "real world" systems! lol

Not accurate indeed. I failed COD4 because it couldn't find my DVD rom
