Cam-belt question

Featured Replies

Its a way off yet, but next January my fabia will be four years old.

Think I'm right in thinking I will need a new cambelt because of age , even

though she's only done 11000 miles now and probably not much more by then:confused:

Any opinions?

change the cam belt at the correct service interval, either on miles or time, whatever comes first:thumbup:

Hi - That my question too although Ive done 28000 miles. I will probably get it changed. My local Leeds dealer D M Keith have quoted me £274 + vat for my 1.9 TDI - Does that sound reasonable or not. ?

Just read this thread

Cam belt - how much should this be please?

So it looks like a fair quote but it still seems a lot to me.

Avoid D m keith leeds like the plague!

Give D M keith Wakefield a Ring, so much better, Chris is the service manager and tell him John Buxton recommended you.

Mmm - Wonder why you dont like Keith of Leeds - I can't say I particularly like them but I haven't felt the need to avoid them over the last 3-4 years.

I found IVC and indepedent VW group just up the road from Keiths. They quote 320 + vat but throw in a water pump.

I think Wakefield will be my next stop.

Mine's due a cambelt change within the next 2 months and hasn't done anywhere near the milage. I've been quoted £425 (vRS) but that's a main dealer, I'm waiting for independant quotes to come through yet.

Definately get it changed at the 4 year interval irrespective of the mileage, if it breaks it's going to be a lot more expensive.
