3.8bar fuel pressure reg on a vRS

Featured Replies

i have been contemplating uprating my fuel pressure regulator from the standard 3bar to a 3.8 or 4bar one. i have done this on my last car but it was a 2.5 v6 and not sure if it would result in the octy heavily overfuelling.

Has anyone done this and if so could you give me some info on what the results/issues were.

thanks in advance

i don't think there is any need personally but its possible but i think that you need a map to suit.

If you have revo stage 2 software they say you need one!

If you after a 4bar FPR I have one you can buy :D

Why would you want to do this?

Des,

I keep asking the same questions ;)

Why would you want to do this?

thanks for the responses guys.

the reason i'm thinking of this is for better throttle response and fuelling.

i've done this on a previous car and it made a nice improvement without going mad.

since i've added my induction kit it feels like the car is lacking in fuel and doesn't have as much of a pull as i was expecting.

if you want better response fit a sports cat or get it remapped.

the 4 bar FPR wont do a thing

on a normally aspirated car, your fuel pressure will ALWAYS be what ever it is set at base idle.

on a forced induction car, the fuel pressure rises with the boost. so if its 3.5bar at idle, and you run 2 bar of boost, it will be 5.5bar at full boost.

upping the fuel pressure is not the ideal way of modifying a car. the only reason you would want to up it is really if you're running the injectors flat out, but then this can cause its own problems.

leave the FPR alone and spend your money on the mrs :)
