Cracked the sump on my first Octy 1 on a rutted road. Noticed small leak and though it was a loose drain plug after servicing. My garage sorted it out with a spot weld no problem. Sump guard on later models should protect.

I wouldn’t be too bothered about the Octys ground clearance. I work on farms installing milking parlours and have only caught the sump once, this was due to the track having been washed away. Also I see a lot of vets in Octys and 1 vet even in an evo Tommi Makinen edition.

Actually, thought occurs. If I see a w-shaped track, I try and drive on the side of the W, rather than right in the deepest part!
