vRS 20,000 mile service questions

Featured Replies

Morning guys,

I've finally got round to phoning around for quotes on my 20,000 mile service on my Fabia vRS. The cheapest i have got is £245 for the service (she said it may be slightly less but won't be more) and £50 for a brake fluid change.

Does this sound OK?

I have noticed my MPG being a little bit poo lately (losing around 40miles to each full tank) so is it likely that this service will sort this issue? Have checked my oil and thats well over half full so can't be that...

Many thanks

Hi there,

That's not too far of the mark, the 40k is the major service for big money.

Had mine in for 20k service just after xmas. Was £199.95, checked with another dealer first & they were charging same.

Sorry the hi-jack this thread.

Mine is due for 40k service and its also 3years old soon.......so my questions are.

what will they be doing for the 40k and the 3year?

will they do all the 3year stuff as part of the 40k or are they seperate things?

All the scheduled items to be serviced are all listed in your owners manual.

Thanks for the responses, any ideas about my other question regarding MPG? I always fill the tank up and where i used to get about 420 miles before i'd fill up again i now get around 350ish...will a service sort this out or is something else wrong?

now get around 350ish...

I had a similar problem last year. I ended up changing the fuel filter. Seem to cure the problem.

It does however they may just clean it out. :thumbdwn: I know for a fact mine wasnt changed at my last 20K serivce interval (60K)

Will mention the problem to them and ask that they replace it...then cross my fingers that they actually do.

Thanks for your help.

They change the fuel filter at 40K not 20K.

At 20K they just drain the filter incase of moisture inside using the drain tap at bottom.

My Octy is due for its 40K soon and it states all filters to be renewed(incl pollen) at a total price of £298.Didn,t think was too bad.

Have you looked at your air filter?

Chances are, that will be full of muck.

But guess what?

The dealer will leave it in for another 20k!!

Because that's what the schedule dictates.

Thanks for your suggestions guys, have cleaned out the air filter (was only a couple of small broken up leaves in there), i'll mention the problem to the dealer tommorrow and ask if they could replace the air/oil filters now to see if it helps.

Any other suggestions welcome!

I just had my 20k service on my fabia vrs done last friday for the sum of £175 - - at skoda!
