Placed new order for VRS to collect tomorrrow

I thought that as a consumer you had a right to a 7 day 'cooling off' period?? Surely you could excersise that right in this case?

I was saying to a mate that a lot of people pay RRP or not far from it! Its on a PCP scheme so will see what its worth at end of the 3 year term! I wasn't too bothered about the 18s because of the reports of harsher ride and more noise and the obvious extra replacement costs! Regarding that 7 day 'cooling off' period thats an interesting one!! I might take a look at the wording on that and mention it! It might help with any more bargaining! Surely they wont want me to walk away after all the work they put it to get it ready and they wont get their commision till I drive it off and sign the credit agreement??!!

Good luck and let us know how you get on. Dont let them bully you into something you're not comfortable with afterall YOU are the customer and you have more rights than you may think.

Also TELL them that you think the car is £1k overvalued having been given some advice, that will make them sit up and take notice.

Why not print off some of the relevant comments from this thread and take it with you, not only will it remind you but you can use it and show to the dealer?

Sounds like a plan guys. BTW is there anyway I can get them to add the jumbo box on once the car has been made as the only thing I really will miss is the armrest and the 3.5m aux out for my N95!

I'm pretty sure that if you use the '7 day cooling off period' your deposit will be gone, the car will have been registered in your name, so they cannot resell it as new.

You agreed on the spec and price of the car, trying to renegotiate the price or extras thrown in IS taking the p155 IMO, i would be amazed if the dealer went for it as well.

Sorry but i think you have to either walk away and loose the deposit, or put it down to experience.

If you haven't signed the credit agreement then yes, you can walk away, but bye bye £500.

Only you can decide on whats right, if you are happy with the car, and the price - you are aware of the potential consequences come resale time etc...

As far as I know you will be able to retro-fit the jumbo box/arm rest and probably be OK with the 3.5mm jack socket but unlikely you'll get the 'chilled air feed' to the box that is part of the Climate pack.

Maybe possible to retro fit the jumbo box, but what about the climate control and rear windows?

To the OP, I think you should do everything you can to get out of the deal, perhaps mention you checked the Skoda website and have realised the 18" Alloys and Jumbo pack are currently a free upgrade offer.

Looks like this one will be down to experience..... On the train now to the dealer. What I did manage to get out of them is that they're going to pick me up from the station!! Thats gotta be worth best part of a fiver! lol :D

It;s only money, enjoy the car, we all get ripped off buying the bloody things, someone somewhere is always making a profit from your hard earned cash.

Good luck with the car anyway. You'll enjoy driving it, and thats all that matters .

VRStu is the oracle on here; heed his advice well; it is usually sound sensible and good.

I wouldn't go that far - I just offered my opinion. :P

I hope you are happy with the car but I do get the impression you bullied yourself into the deal.

Hope your enjoying the car, if theres nothing that can be done with price, see if you can get some mats, fuel, servicing etc. into the deal... poss to late for this now you have picked up?

Got the car, didn't try and get anything extra. Bottled it  and besides I fell in love with it straight away! Gave it a real good checking over, it was spot on with 10 miles on clock. Going to try and find out when it left the factory I can do this against the VIN can't I?

My goodness it pulls in 2nd and 3rd! I went to stretch its legs on dual carriage way, some Z4 was up my butt and thought it was a good opp to see what it can do, but it went from 50 to 100 so quick, I decided to slow straight back down as I dont know the car well enough yet. Also it says that you shouldn't really strain the engine for the 1st 1000miles so i'll just chill for now. Really impressed with the sound system, decent bass and reasonable treble, just a little rattle from panels when turned up though.

What are peoples views on putting the BP 'ultimate' diesel in? Marketing rubbish or will it really keep the engine running nice and save me mpg??

Well done; glad you like it. You'll have plenty of time to enjoy the tsunami of TDI torque :D

BP ultimate - yes it 'does exactly what it says on the tin'; there have been a few threads on the subject with fuel consumption so have a search around.

However, IMHO Shell V-Power is just a tad better and I prefer it. (depends on availability though).

Welcome to Skoda and vRS ownership - (hopefully) you'll enjoy it.

As long as you are happy with the car  enjoy it and worry about trade in in three years time, when you can always get a better deal by going to different dealers.

Oh and welcome to Briskoda

Now for the modifications to begin, how about an MFD2, Maxidot and Bluetooth for kick off ;)

Let the poor guy get the car home first

Surely with a PCP deal the only thing at risk for our new owner is the £500 he slapped down for deposit buying this one. 3 Years time he is guaranteed to get his RV and after 3 years on here I am sure he will be able to drive a bargain to get far more than his £500 back ;)

Enjoy the car Stoddy - I cant wair for mine now :)

True - however if the car was valued at more than the MGFV then the OP would also be a little better off.

OP = Original Poster - that right?

If so - I agree - but there is always the opportunity to push the deal next time around.

Now you're talking my language Stu! I had a look at your site but I had an accident when I was younger in one of my 1st cars, G reg Ford Fiesta, where I was messing with the cables and I cocked up big time. I aint no electrician! So I tend to stop at ISO connectors now! But how much would fitting cost me and who could do this cheaper than dealer? Sorry I meant stealer! I know the MF2s are going on Ebay for 400squid. But I have Tom Tom already so its prob not for me!

VRStu's yer man for Maxidot and Bluetooth projects (I'd seriously reconsider the MFD2 too!), not too far from you either I reckon. ;)

Just so as you are aware. I don't have the Rear elec windows or dual-zone on mine. Dealer ballsed up with the order for another customer so I picked up the bargain!

Mine was about 3/4 weeks old with about 1200 miles on the clock (ex-demonstrator) so I was the 2nd owner. I paid £16500 for it. I am personally not that bothered about the missing "Freebies". I reckon if I was buying one in a few years time, I would be more worried abut condition and mileage!

I have got 18" alloys, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control and the jumbo box/centre armrest/mp3 socket though!

Enjoy the car and take it eaasy in 2nd, it caught me out the other day when changing lane and nearly pulled my head off!
