help me save felicity or im going to have to kill her

Another thought....years ago I had a Riley Elf (Mini with boot & leather seats). Occasionally, when I tried to start it, all I got was a quiet fizzing noise. The starter motor wouldn't turn over - nothing. Turned out it was a common fault - duff battery connection. I used to carry a hammer in the car at all times, and when the problem occurred, simply gave the earth terminal a whack to move the connector, and away she went. This was despite applying vaseline......(where's this thread going??) to the terminals to prevent corrosion.
