Update on my car...ReRemap with dyno

Featured Replies

This week with the help of Gareth at Welsh Coast Customs I have mostly been making a sump guard that incorporates a lower brace bar, as last week the car had a meeting with a brick, which destroyed the Wiechers alloy brace bar and plastic undertray. We also fitted a water/methanol/ethanol injection system but due to a small leak I didn't get it running untill this afternoon. Ooh I also got around to fitting my VDO boost gauge as well.

In between working on the car and working I've been sorting out another set of OZ Futuras, these will be my winter wheels but will be something a little bit special, I should have them back from the powdercoaters next week.

Saving the best for last, today I've been up to ChippedUK in Bromsgrove, I've had a Dastek Unichip fitted for a while which was setup for a standard car, but worked well with the VT2 and other mods.

Finding someone to map it was proving a bit of a nightmare, Jabba didn't want to touch it and Allard told me they would ring me back four times, and never once did, suffice to say they'll never be getting my business again.

I was going to go to Derv Doctor but that's a proper trek to Derby and I heard some good things about ChippedUK.

Anyway I got there 10am this morning and was back home by 2pm, complete with a big grin on my face :D Jayson really knows his stuff, they write all their own code and supply other very well known tuners with their files. And because of that they are cheaper too.

With the Dastek it was making 187hp/280lb/ft, and without it was 151hp/245lb/ft.

nice, do you have the standard injectors?

Some impressive figures!!! Good to hear about good service :)

thats some hike! well impressive, shows the value of custom tuning for bigger turbos, and other "specific" mods

Cheers guys,

Yeah the standard injectors are pretty much on the limit at the moment.

I was quite happy with the performance before, but wasn't happy knowing there was more to come. It's a cliche but it really has transformed the car.

So is that 179.1hp at the wheels?

whats the water/methanol/ethanol injection system all about then? Is it a water mist system for the intercooler?

Yeah that's the power at the wheels.

It's a similar setup but it's injected directly into the inlet tract like the Aquamist kits.

Dude, that is so sweet!

I seem to remember a conversation at a meet about how you weren't thinking of moding too much..... ;)

Gareth at WCC is a sound guy and has the skillz to pay the billz, we need more people like him in the trade. He makes a spot on custom exaust too ;) Big up WCC!

You weren't lying to me, when you said you had some plans for this car anyway... LOL

It sounds like you have a well sorted car there and from what you are saying it drives well

However, without wanting to sound as if I'm putting a dampner on proceedings I would take those figures with a pinch of salt, I know of two cars that have been on those rollers before and have been given inflated figures which is great for telling your mates down the pub but in reality is probably not quite 'truthful'. I dont want to start a war here about various RR's and figures but what you should be pleased about more than the figures is the way you've noticed a real difference in the way the car feels and performs :)

Pics of the system would be great ;)

Cheers dude, what do you mean? This isn't much. :P

He does a proper job, fited a 3" turbo-back on mine, there was a slight bit of adjustment needed but not a single knock now.

LOL Snoopie I told you I'd put your old intercooler to good use.

Makefish you are spot on, whatever the piece of paper says i'm very happy. Although the increase from what it was before says alot.

At the end of the day that's all that counts... that's a very nice looking Fabia VRS you have there

Why thank you very much. :o:D

Here you go WW, I only took a few blurry shots on my phone while it was being put together, theres not much to see in the engine bay as the 5l washer bottle is a perfect res and we found a nice place to hide the pump, it's also well ventilated which should keep it nice and cool.

Great effort :thumbup::cool:

Thought those figures were a touch low for your setup, till I saw from the graph you were talking wheel figures :D

Steve

great tuff, looks like a good curve as well,no wonder it drives great:thumbup:

One question? What clutch do you run?

I am abit worried about my sach one, with the satge 2 TD hybrid ill be running.

I'm still on the original 19k miles clutch. :D Not a single sign of slippage....yet but i think that will change.

Thumbs up to Chipped UK, Had mine mapped there.

Great figures.

Thanks for the pics mate, appreciated :)

Aww man. There is a big chunk of me that wished I still had mine...:(

Kids... Who would have em....

You must have alot of mechanical sympathy.

LOL Snoopie I told you I'd put your old intercooler to good use.

Good man! As it was the first intercooler made by Forge, it was the biggest too :D
