Wheel-size 'Gurus' only!

Featured Replies

In the interests of going as extreme as possible

Is this wheel size practical without modding the arch:

8x17 - 5x100 - ET:30

.........and could I get away with 225/40/17s?

You're starting to push it now ;)

225 is too wide. 8s should be OK, and the offset is such that you're helping as much as possible, buy moving the wheel towards the outside of the arch.

There should be others with more real-world experience than I though. As I've said previously, closest I've come to what you're talking about is a 7.5J 17" at ET32, running 215s.

Steve

I agree with Steve.

I ran 7.5 x 17" TT Comps with 215/40 tyres & that was as much as I would dare on a Fabia.

225 tyres are a definate no no.

Okay. In the interests of being as sensible as possible  does it sound realistic to enquire from a dealer, (with a view to buying if everything's kosher) about getting these with 215/40/17s?

I remember Shifty ran some 18"s acouple of years ago, but I can't remember how wide they were.

Incidently, I'd be going for an Old Skool 'Euro-Dubmeister' look, hence the width .

if you want euro look go for 205's

If you were going for the true old skool look, they wouldn't be 18's! ;)

prob why he is asking about 17s

Dave ran 215/35/18s with his A8 reps. Not sure on the actual width of the wheel, but I'll go for a 7.5.

They'd look well-stretched

Knowing my luck, I'd scuff the rims on the way out of the drive :o. I'd also have to get it 'slammed' a bit lower than the current Eibach/Koni arrangement. However, negotiating a lumpy cattle-grid near Warslow village.....ain't good

RB, would they fit okay with 215s in your opinion? I think the offset should be 35 by rights, but if 30 would go on, I could save quite a few Euros.

I'll be putting 17x9" and 8.5" on mine soon.

I agree with SchrickVR6 - I have had 18 x 9's on mine (rear) with 18 x 8's (front), with a bit of calculating with offsets etc you might be suprised what you could get to fit if your fter that Euro look... I am sure Stuart Hatch is running 16 or 17"by 9's Borbet wheels on his Fabia, obviously with stretch...

:finger: it! I've ordered these. The guy at Wheelbase said they'd go on no problem and left me feeling like a wuss for NOT going for 9 x 18

Wheelbase - official ACE, DeCorsa and Konig distributor in the UK

They'll be with Toyo's 215/40/17s. I'll get 'em on no matter what. The extra size should be on the outside anyway.

Seems like a 'Euro' bargain to me. I've been watching re-runs of 'Ronin', 'Triple X', 'The Bourne Identity', 'French Connection' and 'The Ninth Gate', to get ithat 'Euro' feel .

Bodykits and spoilers to follow............

Good choice, they'll look well nice.

Mine were indeed 18 x 8" :) No rubbing issues.

You CAN go 19 x 7" too.

Thank's lads.....

:pimp:

Good choice dude and a good price which is unusual for Wheelbase lol!

I have 215/40/17 on 8x17 rims for my Combi - no serious problems. I think they are around ET35. It`s lowered and on full lock there can be slight rubbing, but nothing else to report.
