If I was a mod I might do this :banned: :D

That looks interesting.

Although we all know the Favorit is the best of that bunch.

The Samara and Favorit did look similar.

Has anyone on here driven a Proton or Lada before?

I've driven a Lada........:o.....it was awful ...at least I didn't own it

But look what the new ones can do

All 3 of those cars were cheap to buy and did excactly what they were designed for.

Not everyone wants or has the choice to own a 180bhp vRS!

Don't forget that Proton owns two third of Lotus...

A Proton Elise, anyone? ;)

I was quite shocked to hear my car originally cost near £7k when new in april 94. Taking into account inflation etc, that seems quite alot for a "budget" car at that time (although I admit I was only 13 at the time so don't remember how much cars were back then). I guess it must have been the GLXIe spec and estate size that put the price up.

If

We're not all boy racers :P 67bhp is plenty for me till my finances straighten out in 200 years time.

Besides, VRS stands for "Victory Rally Sport" I believe, which is a hommage to Skoda's tradtion in Motorsport. Had all the older Skoda's been crap, they'd never had won any rally's and your VRS wouldn't be so cool

My Felicia cost 9.5k new. With a kit level that if sold today would be considered sparse as theres no leccy windows, no a/c and all those other gubbins.

For a Favorit based car when t was launched it was getting really good reviews. So if they liked the Felicia what was a Favorit like?

Favorit TG review not as crap as you thought it was

It's a shame in some ays the show is now more about silly races and blowing up caravans. You won't see any car reviews like the one of the Favorit in 89.

Looks like the show wasn't on between 1993 and 1997 which I guess is when they would have mentioned the Felicia. There's no mention on these episode guides of the Felicia

Although as well as a review of the Favorit, later they did a long jump with one. I think it came second.

ahhh, Top Gear from when it used to be a serious motoring program.

Great review of the Favorit.

I'm sure cars today are cheaper than they have ever been and I hope one day Lada will return to these shores.

Agree with everything you say there..... Skoda is about a little more than remapping VRS's...

Jasc1988 have a read of this;

Škoda - About Å*koda - Our Company - Our history

my wife got me a book on this for christmas,it is absolutly amazing, only about 1/4 of the way through it,it details everything from laurin setting up on his own,and klement doing the same then joining to make motorcycles, right up to present day,a very detailed and interesting history, plus and don't laugh here, the old 110's and 130's WILL become classics, and in time worth a few quid, they are interesting and quirky.:D

What a garbage comment.

Strange you still see a lot of them still around. I doubt your Polo will be on the road in 10 years time.

From what I gather this is already the case :)

Seen occasional Favorits and Protons still running around, also seen a Favorit estate other day - M reg, v nice looking too. As for Top Gear - that show finished as a motoring show ages ago. I remember when they reviewed and drove actual cars people brought and also occasionally featured motorcycles.

Same thought here...... probably be wraped around a lamp post whilst attempting to race a Leon Cupra or something similar way before its 10th birthday

Great review of the Favorit.

And worth remembering it was Clarkson himself who gave that great review. I can still remember it too - to paraphrase: "If I was 17 and looking for a cheap fun car I couldn't go far wrong with the Favorit"

also occasionally featured motorcycles.

Ah you mean they catered for homosexuals?

;):D;)

Skoda won the WRC's 'FIA 2-litre World Cup' in 1994 with the Favorit despite it having only 1.3 litre engine. It even grabbed a few top 10 overall WRC results!:
