Octavia Sport

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have been looking at a 2ltr diesel Octavia Sport hatchback at a main dealers. It looks like this model is now discontinued , spec wise it appears to be close to the ambiente. It was registered in Nov 2007 so has a lot of warranty remaiming, mileage is 8k.

I have not driven that specific car but test drove a 2ltr diesel ambiente with sports suspension so I imagine it will be similar. The car we drove had covered 48k miles but was a pleasant surprise. The only concern was wind noise at around 70mph, sounded like it was coming from around the A pillars on both sides, is this common on Octavia's and something you have to live with ?.

Price for the sport model is £14k, seems OK but maybe not a bargain ?

Any views from you experienced Briskodian's much appreciated, in particular on the subject of the wind noise.

Thanks

John

the wind noise is standard but i dont find it a problem really. just have the stereo on at a decent level and its fine.

the sport is based on a ambiente spec. so it wont be far off the amb octy you drove. just with better more supportive seats.

ive got a 57 plate 1.8t sport with RPS, xenons, arm rest, dual zone climate and maxidot here with 8k for 14995. i think your right about the price, its good but not quite a bargin. have a go at haggling!

ive a 2l petrol sport, which has great seats, comfty and that. im happy with it and anyone who has seen mine will see that its basically at vrs spec for the inside minus the silver area around the stereo and vrs front bumper (and spolier but then you have a sports spoiler instead).

I've got a 2.0d sport and think its great. Its a good alternative to the diesel VRS so long as you can get a hefty discount - list price you may as well get a VRS.

I came from a mapped fabia vrs needing extra room and the octavia delivers massive amounts of room and the 2.0d is faster than my standard fabia to boot. The ride can be firm with the sports suspension but is more than made up for by the precise handling.

As for wind noise I've not noticed any. The only thing I hear is tyre noise which I guess is a consequence of the low profile tyres.

14k sounds reasonable - I paid 13k for a delivery mileage 3mths old pre-reg though that seemed well below other main dealer cars.

just sold our 1.8t one of those yesterday :) the chap whos bought it will have a great time in it! such a lovley car to drive, responsive, quiet, great supportive seats and subtle styling to make it stand out.

Ive just traded my 2.0 tdi sport (MY55) for a new Scout, good car, very comfortable and surprisingly quick for an oil burner !!!

The only downside is that the tyres dont like the torque (and my driving) and get worn fairly quickly. All in All 2 years (56 K miles happy driving)

Cheers

Si.

tyres seem fine on mine after 10k and wind noise no different to any other car imho.

There is a2.0d sport on the forecourt at Sparshatts Fareham, Hants. Test drove it last Sat as they had no VRS to test. Very nice car good ride, good seats. Nice power band.

The car was 1.5 - 2 years old not sure on the price though.
