Wheel trim?

Featured Replies

I nearly bought some Autoglym Clean Wheels today but as it listed a set of materials it was unsuitable for I thought I'd check with you fine people if there would be a problem first.

Wheel trim attached. Any ideas? I note the trims get very dirty and I have no idea if these are plastic or what!

thats an alloy wheel.......

Love the post.

Should attract a few interesting responses;)

That is an alloy wheel (I do know something :)), the wheel centre is a printed metal disc stuck on plastic, the wheel bolt covers are plastic and the wheel finish is paint with a coating of clear lacquer. The wheel cleaning product I suspect contains acid, hence the warnings and is primarily intended for heavily soiled wheels. From the photo your wheel looks quite clean, why not give it a good coat of polish to stop the brake dust from sticking so they can be easily cleaned with car shampoo and water?

I took that having just cleaned the car, and trust me, the wheel trims are no-where near clean, just "good enough" to wait until I've picked up something better for the job. I certainly need something other than a large sponge to get between the "spokes". The "Hi-Tech Wheel Brush" sounds about right although expensive.

I was thinking of the spray stuff ("Clean Wheels") as it says you just rinse off afterwards but I'm always a little skeptical of anything that claims such magic...

I also have an additional problem, I think some diesel or the Miller's Diesel Sport 4 liquid must have splashed around the fuel filler cap has I have a couple of drip stains on that panel. I can't clean them with a sponge and the Bodywork Shampoo stuff, not sure what to use really...

For the stains try some Auto Glym Intensive Tar remover, great stuff ;)

i agree works good even the interior can benefit from a bit of it....unlike me though .make sure if u use inside thoguh u ventilate....or u might feel bit dizzy lool :dunce:
