Badly feathered tyres on 18"s

Featured Replies

Hi, been getting a lot of road noise from the rear of my Octy II vRS (running 18"s) and have just noticed that the insides of both rear tyres are badly feathered. Does anyone else get this on theirs? Can this be fixed easily? Or is it something I should go back to the dealership about?

Cheers,

Dave.

I wouldn't bank on it

Me neither but a reputable tyre fitters should be able to help.

Yeah, guess not , but are these revised settings an official revision published by Skoda somewhere so the dealer can find out if need be?

(I just want as much info as possible before I go asking them to do it and getting fobbed off)

They were issued in a Technical Service Bulletin late in 2005 so if your car was made after then it's likely it will already have the revised settings.

Oh dear, mine's only a year old. So is there something that can be done to stop the feathering or do I just have to put up with it? (Not the most practical of people when it comes to cars - I just like to drive 'em) I don't want to have to start changing my tyres more often due to this...Is it something that just a normal tyre fitters could sort out? Guess it's like sorting out tracking, but I thought that was only done on the front wheels...

Do you have Dunlop SP Sport Max tyres?

Yep, exactly the same for me....Ive replaced the rear tyres (worn out on the inside edge) with Dunlop SP9000(great looking tyres) and had a 4 wheel alignment check so hopefully they will now wear evenly... My fronts interestingly had worn badly on the inside edge too.

Think I'll have to get the same on mine - never had rear wheels go out of alignment before, but will definitely get them done at the weekend....
