yes mate i am new to tuning the vrs but my rover tomcat i got up to 282 bhp so i do know what i on about i just want to do it right and the garage i am using is very well known but am only just stating to do vag cars there main one is cosworth and its pj motorsports

Is it true you can add a spacer on the second sensor avoid the CEL? Or is that a bad plan?

I am very interested in this having just bought a De-cat and down pipe!

I was thinking about getting a high flow CAT from USA and getting fitting it inline somewhere!

Has anyone done this / or know the best way of switching the light off?

You have to be careful fitting a decat pipe on some cars can actually reduce performance due to the lack of back pressure.

Does the decat pipe actually work well with the 1.8t?

Doesn't apply to turbos does it?

it is very possible to lose torque with the decat. i have seen a few before and after dyno runs with turbo cars where they have lost torque. And gained little bhp .I would go for the 100 cel cat personally.

I had the sports cat on my old vrs, and didnt get the CEL. The light cannot be mapped out, because the ECU measures the difference in emissions between both lamda probes, and if there is none it assumes that the cat has failed and brings on the CEL. Various ways have been attempted to stop the light coming on but it always does eventually.

Another thing to consider is that without a cat your car will fail a roadside emissions test, and also the MOT. With a sports cat, it barely passed and the engine/exhaust needed to be really hot before it would pass.

A decat without a remap will lose performance because of the lack of back pressure, as has already been mentioned. The only thing you gain is a different sound.
