Still made/available in the UK?

Featured Replies

Saw a Taxi yesterday at Cambridge services.

57 plate hatch, no markings other than octavia - assuming 1.9D.

I thought they stopped selling the mk1 in the uk ages ago

Nope, still available as taxis.

on another thread there was something about 2010/12 as the date when mk 1's would no longer be available. There are a few 57plates in use as taxis in the welsh valleys.

Wow.

Would have thought the Mk2 would have been a much better buy given increased servicing intervals, better interior etc etc.

Seen an 07 plate today myself.

Probably dirt cheap and well proven so will go on for ever and ever.

That's why they still buy the Mk1 over the Mk2

yep got tailed by 2 57 plates on the M6 last week both 1.9tdi's and past me doing about a ton.

Yes i got an 06 MK1 TDi and its a taxi also. You can buy them now for £10400 from Taxi agents not the dealers. They are going to stop making them in 2010(Direct confirm from SUK)

I wonder if they are built in Europe, or if they are the Indan built Octavia?

Followed a white '57' plate (BP57 XWA) taxi home today. Kept staring as I though my eyes were deceiving me!! Looked like 'Classic' spec though. Would be good if still available as I really like the Mk1!!

Is it just the TDIs?

Would love a new 1.8T 4X4!
