Hi

i need a spare key for my car as the spare i have has the transponder missing! I have contacted skoda who want to take me up the **** for £65+vat and a local car key specialist in Newcastle won't do it for under £60!!

Is there a cheaper way of doing this online, or can anyone recommend someone near Newcastle upon Tyne who can sort something for a reasonable price? I have found it difficult to find anyone who is prepared in the first place!!

I have the silver tag attached to the spare but i understand that there is a 4 digit code that i need from skoda. Will this be anywhere in my documents as i have everything including original bill of sale?

I only paid around £20 for a transponder key from a local small key cutting shop (he did have to order it in and it was not a specialist car key shop) my non transponder key for the doors was around £17 (obviously my ignition barrel has been changed in the past)

My key looks very much like the 'VW OEM Uncut Blank Key with Transponder' that are selling on ebay for £15.99 + £4 postage. Would only want cutting then.

on ebay actually states it is for Skoda Felica 98 - 99 and is only £9.99 + £1.99 p&p

I will see if i can get this sorted! Will key shops do transponders if i supply the key as advertised on ebay as i am having real difficulty in getting a one that will do 1.3 as they usually do VW engined cars ok but not skoda engined VAG cars!

Can you advise that it in fact has a transponder in it? maybe the small black box bottom right of the spring?

Would the following ebay item be a good blank replacement - Timpson's wanted £35.00 to get a key in and cut it :eek:
