hi folks.

new to this..not got a skoda YET but i been looking at 1 that i like.. a 03 plate Octavia VRS... and i need some info... can anyone help?

i been on Which Car website and they say that the octavia needs a timing belt change after 70000 miles... the 1 i seen is past 78000.. would it need a change?

and also is there any known problems generally with water ingress on the back door deals...

the car is very tidy inside and out with not a scratch on it. and has FSH with all previous receipts with 2 owners.

is there anything else i need to know before i buy?

I believe it's 60k on the VRS , so it should have been done by now.

Check the service history for proof of this , and if it hasn't it's not a major problem as you can use this to haggle the price down and get it done immediately.

It won't have done any harm using a belt that's past it's best but it would need to be done now rather than risk the engine being wrecked.

hello all.. update time..

got the Octavia on friday and fab car it is too..

the timing belt had been changed at 60000miles.

the doors seals are fine as the water i spied on 1st inspection was clean from it being washed every day.

but 1 thing bothers me... theres an awful screech (only lasts about a second) after starting the engine..... alternator perhaps?

any ideas folks?
