Passenger side C.V boot problem!! HELP

Featured Replies

Basically guys, my c.v. boot had a hole in it so I got a new 1 from my local skoda dealer and the new doesn't want to stay on!!!

The boot has been fitted and re-fitted god knos how many times and it keeps coming oof at the wide end! This is prooving to be a major problem as there is grease everywhere, the joint is being left open to the elements and I've got my mot coming up!!

The guy trying to fix it for me has tried all sorts of clips and nothing has kept it on. I've also ordered another boot (supposed to be a softer compund rubber and stretcher) from a local autoshop to try and fix the problem, but I don't see why the genuine skoda shouldn't stay on!!!!

The car is lowered on coilovers but I've not read of any1 else having problems with their coilovers

Any1 got any ideas

I had this problem on a Almera GTi.Fitted a genuine boot but slipped off many times. Some boot kits are supplied with plastic tie straps which are useless. What you need to fit is the metal CV boot clips and make sure the outer end(large) is completely free of grease and dry when fitting onto shaft and tightenup with the metal clip.

Hope this helps

The boot I got from skoda had the metal clip in the box, still it keeps coming off.

Been told to stay away from using tie straps

Should be getting a different boot tomorrow so hopefully this 1 will work!!

Good luck hope all goes well

I had a cv boot split on my old Citreon and the grease contaminated the brake pads, so ended up having to have new pads as well as the boot.

Also made for an intersting time stopping when it happened, I was on the motorway, braked hard and ended up on the hard shoulder.
