vRS going wrong already!!!

Featured Replies

My vRS is back at the dealers already with dodgy power steering, the all too common steering angle sensor is faulty. Car's only done 18k now on a 56 plate. Surely stuff like this shouldn't be going wrong already? :thumbdwn:

It can happen, to some extent it's bad luck here I think - I did 70k with mine without any trouble, who knows :)

Guessing it's under warranty though?

Hmm hopefully it's just a one off, was hoping VAG build quality would impress me, having owned french cars before so i'm all too used to broken stuff lol

Yup under warranty!

to be honest, things can go wrong with any car at ay time.

My VRS has been the most un-reliable car ive owned yet. Been into Skoda twice in 2 weeks with gearbox problems.

Bt, nothings perfect, wouldnt it be great if it was. Though i'd be out of a job! :D

I had a new gearbox in my vRS at 40k..... the fiats made it that far without any major work, and look at things people say about fiat! lol...... my GP has beaten my fabia so far for reliability....... (although to be fair, the fabia never actually broke down and left me stranded in 80k of motoring, so i wont complain about that  )

You guys are worrying me lol

I bought a VAG car expecting it to be totally reliable till 100k+

Oh how wrong could i be :o

I will treat my car well, and see how it goes until the warranty runs out, then think about selling. As long as it doesn't cost me to fix it i don't care.

:rofl::rofl::rofl: You would be wrong no mater what car you bought!

They are not the worst, but really not the best. Also you will get a false view reading what goes on here. People come here specifically to post their problems and represent a very small number of Skoda/Vag owners.

alex, stop being a gaylord and worrying so much.

mine is on 60k and sweet as a nut, my lupo gti was on 100k and was fine, and my ibiza cupra was on 105k and fine. my polo gti was on 100k and the only problem was the gearbox really which is a common problem on them.

so there ya go, my experience of vag cars has been good.

lack of power steering fluid can lead to tracking problems later down the line

He's right though mate, no such thing as a 100% reliable car

agreed, with all above posts, don worry so much ;)

vw are **** hot when it comes to engines why worry about somthing that may turn out to be nowt at all.

231k on my Fabia estate so far ;)

Alright Adam :D I need to go out in your remapped one to see what it feels like!

Guess i should just forget about it, just thinking that perhaps VAG cars aren't overengineered to such a high degree any more.

I mean surely when they tested the prototype cars a large percentage of the common problems would have shown up. And with so many steering angle sensors being faulty they would change the design of the sensor or get a different manufacturer to make a better quality one? Oh well.
