Thanks all for your comments - I checked today, and if I'm actually driving along and the temp drops below 4 degrees, i do get a bong, but if I start up when the temp is below 4 then I don't get a bong! I don't have maxidot. Will ask the dealer when I go for service - its not a big issue, and I completely agree that there are a number of things for which Skoda consider a bong essential which I would far rather do without!

Actually; I've just though on this and mine, with maxidot, is the same.

i.e. bong on lower temp when driving, went off on the way home last night (7 degC at the office and only 2 degC at home) but NOT at the start of a journey (was -1 degC this morning and I got no bong).

Mine is exactly the same... but the display does flash the temp at 4deg or below for a good few seconds so you can see it.

I had my seatbelt bong deactivated, how patronising.

Yep, agree - when driving if temp drops it will bong but not if low temp on start up - just the flashing display.

My car is a Octavia Elegance just coming up to be 2 years old (bless it s rubber tyres) anyway it bongs when the temp drops to 4. Good Idea, excpet I wish it would not bong about the seat belt until I drive off, as I have a bad habit of jumping in the car starting the engine then putting my seat belt on. :oS

when starting from cold i thought it did bong but with all the other bonging, like dtmilner says at the inital start, we may be missing it.
