Trouble with Octy Rad Hose

Featured Replies

My fan Octy RS has managed to eat the same rad hose twice. Its the one that runs from the top left side of the rad down to the bottom right side of the rad - diagonally across the fans. - when looking into the engine bay.

The first two hoses ran very close to the rad fans and the fans eventually chopped holes in them.

I had a call from the garage fitting the 3rd new hose and they have said that although it is the same part number the hose is a different shape and has better clearance from the rad fans - so I should be alright this time!!!

Has anyone else had this problem?

Steve, are you talking about the hose which runs from the top left of engine (looking from the front) diagonally across the radiator fans and down past the bottom RHS of the rad? I don't have any hoses which pass closer than a couple of inches from the edge of the fan shrouds - that one included. Are you sure your hoses are routed correctly? It might be worth comparing your car with another 1.8T.

Yep - thats the one. I can't see that there is any other way to route the hose.

I'm still waiting to get the car back (now the fans won't kick in!!!) and I'll see how the new hose is routed.
