Looking to buy a Digital SLR

Featured Replies

Ok folks...........I'm looking to buy a Digital SLR camara upto £300/£350 What do you recommend. It will be used for everyday piccies, nothing to technical..............Also advice required on memory cards, Size etc, how many piccies..............I'm a complete novice..:o.Cheers

Hi there,

I recently bought myself a Nikon D40 and this is my 1st SLR camera. It cost around £350, but I think you can get them cheaper than that now. This came with a lens aswell (up to 55mm, I think).

I'm not too sure about technical camera stuff as I'm still learning, but this camera has a really good automatic function that I use nearly all the time. It's very user friendly and if you're not sure about aperture settings etc you don't have to worry. The main things I photograph are landscape, motorsport and architecture and I've had really good results so far, both with close-up and distant subjects. In terms of pixels, this one has 6.1 megapixels, but there's also a model that has 10mp for about £100 more. I have a 1gb memory card that holds around 500pics.

There's also a Canon EOS SLR (not sure of the model) that has roughly the same spec though is a bit more pricey.

Hope that's of some help.

There's a huge big-*** topic on this!
