we have a 2005 octavia turbo diesel. after starting the car, the diesel heater plug warning light on the dash flashes all the time. was told by the dealers it was due to the brake light switch, this has now been replaced with the latest GREEN brake light switch, but the warning light is still flashing. any ideas?

Did they read the fault codes for you?

nope, when i phone them they put me through to the forman and he said it was a common fault with audis and skodas, didnt belive him and contact a second dealership that said the same thing.

It is a common problem but if that doesn't fix the issue then i'll wager it's not the problem in this instance.

It would appear it wasn't the brake light switch for once. I'd say the next thing to do is getting the fault codes read.

Broken bulb maybe?

I don't think so. I've had a brake light bulb, and a number plate one both go, and neither produced a dashboard display.

Mine have never caused a light ont he dash to come on either (brake and numberplate - same as you), but other people say it works for them. I am 2001 TDi estate - maybeit it is different on the hatch?

I'd have thought it would be trim level based rather than body style based, and we've both got an Elegance,.
