Maxidot retrofit

Featured Replies

Hi,

is there a guide for replacing the dashpod for a maxidot one - also where can they be purchased? Has anyone in Northern Ireland fitted one?

There isn't a guide as such but I maybe able to answer your questions.

What would you like to know?

I was hoping you would answer - how difficult is it whould be my main question, followed by how expensive, followed by where can they be obtained from

It's actually remarkably simple. The dash pod is held in by 2 screws and two hidden clips.

The dashpod does however contain the immobilisor. The simplest way is to take the pod to your local dealer and have them swap it. They may try to tell you it isn't possible but that's carp. They just need to follow the same procedure as if they were replacing a defective unit under warranty and follow the guided functions on VAS.

And most likely they will be struggling with the immobiliser and key matching like in my case. But just keep pressing them and eventually they will succeed.

In my case the close showstopper was "Immobilizer end of line" error message on maxidot screen after adaptation. They paniced and stopped the process there :)

Luckily I was around to "persuade" them to continue with key matching and in the end all went well.

Also they were making a mistake with key placement during key matching, they held the spare key on top of the dashboard while the other one was in ignition, you can guess what happened :)

hm how expensive would this surgery be? (including a provided maxidot display)
