2 ltr TDI

Featured Replies

Is the 2ltr tdi engine with 140 bhp basically the same engine as the tdi vrs. If so how do they squeeze 170 bhp from that engine and how can i increase my 140 bhp tdi upto 170 bhp. Do they have a different exhaust system or air filter if not either of those two how do they do it?

There is a different turbo, and completely different injectors that are piezo electric. The software is obviously adjusted to suit also.

The exhaust is similar, but it accommodates a DPF of then 170 variant. :)

If you want 170 bhp, a remap will see that I'm sure. ;)

not that i would do it, but out of curiousity, if you got those bits from a tdi vrs (turbo, injectors) and then remapped it, it would be faster than a standard vrs yeah? should be good for 200bhp?

According to a number of tuners you can squeeze a whole lot more that 170bhp from the vRS :)...say 210+ Hp.

Revo currently offers 214 bhp, SuperChips did offer 214 bhp initially, but backed off to protect DPF. Subsequently VAG re-programmed the DPF sensitivity as even stock vehicles exhibited "issues".

A de-cat'd racing PD170 has been bench tested to 245 bhp and prototyped in a road car at 225 bhp, not sure on torque.

VAG have now ceased development of the PD170 as it has been superceded by the CR170, which will be also available in a twin-turbo (small+large) 204 bhp variant within 12 months (debuting in AUDI).

No doubt the tuners will have a field day with that one as long as DPF isn't too restrictive (should see 245 bhp theoretically)
