Settle this please, does this guy talk the biggest load of rubbish or what

Featured Replies

Right talking on another forum about the Fabia VRS, this guy reckons they handle brilliantly and the jabbasport RARB does nothing, i think he is wrong

Heres our convo. Who is right?

those rear roll bar kits r ****e, dont feel any diff 2 me, fabias junk in corners? mines class!

What RARB have you got?

Most possibly the best hadling mod you can do to a Fabia?

What set up are you running?

Fabia's in standard form are absolutely horrible handling cars, sooo much understeer and quite a heavy rolly car.

Have a look on You tube at the Fabia vs Mini video which will show you its QE2-esque handling

iv fitted a jabba 1 before 2 sum1s fabia and i honestly didnt feel any difference at all, mine is completely standard and it really is a fantastic handling car, im a vag technician i know them inside out, but seriously i wudnt waste ur money, i really think people "think" they make a difference because they totaly want it 2, iv usualy felt the need 2 lower my cars in the past but with the fabia its comfortable and handles the buisness, il even show u (private track of course). I know exactly wot mods can make these cars rockets and what dont make a difference but il not get in2 it as theres 2 many folk that "think" theyr an enthusiast and they must know better and itl open up a whole can of worms but it makes me laugh the sheer number of people who do so much **** that just wont work...

i dont know all the ins and outs of jap cars etc but vags i do.

many folk will vouch 4 my vag knowledge...hopefully :-D

He is in the red,

Who is right??

i would say he's wrong,another annonymouse keyboard warrior,they handle rubbish,even with a rarb,coilovers,strutbraces ect,for real improvments you need a peloquin atb diff;)

Lol

You're both right.

In terms of "people buying all sorts of crap not knowing what it does" - him

In terms of him knowing nothing at all about Fabia's handling - you.

My Impreza runs 18s, corners far faster than my furby and rides the bumps better too, to add insult. And that's with Furby-meister running Eibach springs and shocks and with a Jabba ARB.

J.

LOL what a plonker, think he knows everything because he is a VAG Tech. Whoopy doop, is that not what the dum dums at school ended up doing (apologies to anyone who is a good mech.)

I would change that now my friend ;)

Do you realise what qualifications are needed to become a master tech?

Totally out of order comment :(

Heres the latest about Eibachs

sorry but simply lowering a car will not improve handling, it will infact make it worse....

its a total myth that fitting lowering springs will imiprove handling, the dampers will not work as designed and the camber will also be out...

camber and damper rate are more important than ride height.

And the latest from our master tech..

I personally heard the seatsport strut brace does next to feck all??

the strutbraces do actually make a difference, there is a noticable difference il vouch 4 that, same 4 the springs, cant go wrong with eibachs!

as marko says better gettin dampers 2 tho.

Seriously its all in folks heads them rarb's if u want it stiffened up uprate all the bushes (console arms, farb ect ect)

i agree with one thing vindaloo says,a lot of people seem to buy things for there car not actually knowing what it does,or even if it works.

RArb makes the car more fun,

springs lower the car and help with pitching and diving

dampers make the car more compliant

strut braces tighten up the car, the rear one aparently makes a difference.

Thats my point of view about the furbys handling.

and a peloquin atb diff makes the car handle like it has no right too, can't wait to destroy those scooby's at blyton later thi month:rofl:

Have i mentioned my new diff?

Spelling aside....

Absolutely correct.

The rear arb DOES make a difference, a great difference to the handling traits.

lowered springs make the car more 'settled' albeit not by a lot.

Nobody buys a Fabia vRS for its performance traits outright, but usually it is bought for a combination of reasonable performance/good economy/ sleeper type of thing.

Tell your mate to sod off, if he is not impressed he can have a go in mine, if he want scaring, I'm sure Shifty will oblige....

And if he wants to know about diff's he can ask Gary :D

I have probably modified about half my cars and have often wondered the genuine benefits of doing so. Tweaking turbos produces a very noticeable difference for a relatively small outlay. But trying to sort suspension has cost me a lot of money for quite often, a small return. I have asked before and don’t want to get flamed, but is it possible that the manufacturers really do know what they are doing? They make the best compromises and anything done to alter their settings results in major loses in other ways?

He isn't my mate. lol. just spamming my thread with junk lol

Well feck orf then idiot, we have enough of these stupid threads:finger:

I thought you had a point to prove....

( Feckin ***** he mumbled to himself.......)

I see Grumps is on the warpath and therefore I would like to retract my earlier question

the strut brace done hardly anything to mine handling wise but the jabba rarb is a worthwhile mod the lift off oversteer you get with it is enjoyable but yet very controllable the car seems more stable when poressing on too

I do have a point to prove, that he is quite obviously wrong :thumbup:

it is all a compromise, the trick to successful modding is to do your research, and how far you are prepared to go,and what practicalities you are prepared to sacrifice,i have gone all out,and taken a couple of risks(one of only two fabias running a 9lb ally flywheel)my car is not comfortable, quiet or refined, but god can it hold corner speed, the other thing is tyres, how many change the standard setup for a dogs conkers one then keep the standard ditchfinders on?The other thing with suspension is setup and adjustment,do you really know what you are doing,or does the person who set it up?all these things could make a modded car handle worse than a standard one.

Get in my atb equiped car and you would really see a difference:thumbup:

I agree to a certain extent, but in my own personal experience (on my Ibiza FR turbo) i lowered it and put on the top strut brace and the handling felt more "accurate" and "resopnsive" when diving into and blasting out of the corner.

They make the best compromises and anything done to alter their settings results in major loses in other ways?

I'd disagree there - the Fabia has really poor ride and handling out of the box IMO. Inadequate suspension (out of cheapness one assumes) combined with 16" wheels (a box-ticking 'feature') is the worst of all worlds. The handling is at best predictable - you can predict that you will end up in a hedge if you press on too much.

If it had been me I'd have given it 15" wheels for a touch more comfort and better shocks - leave the lowering to the modders who want to slam their cars.

But then Audi's are often accused of having far too harsh a ride too. You really can't please all of the people.

The only car that I had that was successfully sorted by tweaking the suspension was my Abarth 130TC (it’s handling was a little interesting and rock hard), but the money I spent modding the engine and suspension etc, I could have bought a 2.8 Capri (showing my age) and this was some car in those days.

mmmmmmm......2.8 capri.........*drool*

Gary, Have i missed something.

Have you changed your diff' ?

:rolleyes::D
