Best 312mm pads

Featured Replies

Yep, I've no complaints on the DS2500s from cold.

Gez - where did you get the Mintex from?

Steve

Got Mintex Extremes Octy vRS/TT front pads for £70 delivered.....can't say much fairer than that!

Hell no. Where from?

I would go an by some wheel cleaner now as they can be a bit dusty

I really rate the EBC redstuff Ceramic V3 so far. I've only been running them for about 500 miles, but it's a subjective thing as some people love them others hate them. They cost a smidge under £70 for a pair for the Golf MK V GIT/Octy/Octy II

They perform similarly to the yellowstuff at road temperatures and better in cold temperatures.

I would avoid the greens if you are going to be pushing anything past the UK limits, eg german autobahns etc.

So once again...

I'm needing front pads for my octy VRS. I had some scary moments when i'm speeding and need to break hard! the pads are the ones that came originaly with the brakes, now it's the time to exchange them!!

So, what do i buy??????

I see you folks talk about Mintex Extreme, Red and Yellow Stuff... I don't do tracks, i just use me car daily! But i like to speed up things a litle bit!! Like that, i need to breake a little more harder!

What pads???

BlackOctaviaRS - I got a set of front Mintex Extreme (X1 compound for fast road use) from Jabbasport, £65 + delivery - they are excellent on the road - I'll let you know what the track verdict is in 2 weeks or so.

My furby is fitted with 312mm discs same as the Octy.

I don't do tracks, i just do a fast road use, almost the time very very above the speed limits:rofl: so, for that, i need some pads that can handle it! the skoda pads sucka!!:thumbdwn::thumbdwn:

Hi guys,

I bought the Mintex Extremes last July for my 312's but they were not needed at the service so only came to having them fitted last week. Or at least that was the plan.

When the garage opened the box there were not 2 pairs of pads but 3 of one and 1 of the other (the side with the clip) so they could not be fitted. :(

Anyway, to cut a long story short I called Motorsport world and they no longer carry this line due to them being discontinued by Mintex so have just been on the phone with a very helpful guy at Mintex and been offered a replacement set of Mintex MDB 2041 M114 pads (can't find that ref so maybe I wrote the numbers down wrong).

Does anyone know if they are a suitable pad?

I have a half used set of Pagid FR's if you are interested? ;) rate them very highly but they have stopped making them for some reason :(

A lot of brake pads are being discontinued due to new european laws banning materials they are made of. Or at least that is what I was told.

I guess it explains the large number of new ceramic compounds these days.
