vrs anti-roll bar bush query

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Im currently in the process of fitting a vrs roll bar to my seat ibiza, due to the common collar cracking fault on VAG models.

Im trying to find out if the arb bushes that fit the vrs bar have a plastic/nylon insert in contact with the metal of the bar, as per the old bushes on my seat?

I made the mistake of ordering the arb only, and it would appear my old bushes would fit the new vrs bar if I took off the plastic insert.

Wouldnt you want the uprated Seat Cupra Anti Roll bar bushes as the Fabia ones are garbage??

... free bump anyway

Thanks for the info on the fabia bushes.

Im just going to have a go at fitting my old seat bushes onto the vrs bar & see if that works as a quick-fix for now - I can always go down the powerflex/cupra route if it doesnt work

I remember seeing a post on here earlier this morning, describing the differences between the 'old' and 'new' ARBs, and it said that the bushes for one wouldn't fit the other...

IIRC there should not be a nylon insert in the ARB bushes - that part was originally part of the early ARBs - ie the plastic stop/collar. I would doubt seriously if you have managed to order up a new "old version" ARB from any VAG dealership. When you go to pick-up the ARB just ask them for bushes to suit it - and maybe a couple of clamps if they are now a different size to suit the new bushes. Quite a few of the original p/n are still retained as it is only the smaller sizes that now need new bushes that did not exist before - don't missinterpret this, as all the new version ARBs need a different size of mounting bush than that originally fitted. Broadly speaking, the bush for the original 21mm bar should still be available as a spare but only for the original 21mm bar - the new version 21mm bar now uses the bush that the original 19mm bar used - etc.

so do cupra bushes fit onto a VRS arb ok?

I think the Cupra arb is a different size. You want vRS clamps and bushes for a vRS arb. As far as im aware Cupra arb's arent 'special' and neither are the bushes.

bushes are soild mate and cheap. However the VRS arb is larger than the cupra arb hence my intrest lol. Are the VRS bushes solid as well or do they have void in them?

Hi guys sorry if this has been gone over once, but i've been reading for ages now and just getting confused.

I have an 03 Octy VRS - with one hell of a creaking noise from the front - Dealer tells me it's the ARB bushes and £269 to replace.. but i'm trying to sell the car.. not looking to put anyone's safety at risk but having just spent 600 this month all ready on a service and locking motor i feel enoughs enough.. are their any after market bushes that would fit my standard arb?

I've tried dowsing in Wd40 but it makes no difference to the noise.. annoyed to hell this isnt a recall by Skoda..

Whats the cheapest way to get this noise to STFU so i can sell the car =)

Cheers lots

At that money you sure you don't mean Rear Wishbone Bushings?

If he is quoting that amount , I doubt he will be fitting just the bushes , possibly the ARB too

I would look in to this a bit more

Mmmm thinking about it though approx 2 hours ish work and the labour rate they charge , could be right

Get someone else to look at it

Possibly someone with a cheaper labour rate

As has been said though , wishbone bushes tend to make the creaking noise and ARB bushes knocking noise
