Difference between BLT and ASZ engines?

Featured Replies

Hhmm... I wanted to know the differences between the two types of engines fitted to the vRS. ASZ is fitted in 2004 and 2005 and is compliant with the EURO 3 gas regulations. BLT is fitted from the end of 2005 until the end of production and is compliant with EURO 4.

As far as I know the BLT is a bit more powerful. I am interested why. Also, the differences I know are: the whole EGR system is different, also the turbos are different and BLT blows at higher pressure.

Anything else that I am missing?

"Apparently" the BLT stutters heavily... but I had a vRS with one for 9 months and it was fine.

So it's all b0llocks :)

Yip. I know. I have a BLT and it used to stutter a lot, but I cured it with a software modification, even no need to change the gasket. ;)

Anyone?

I have a BLT and it never stuttered, so not all of them do that...

the blt give a bit more power too:D

'BLT's are better, 'cause the combination of crispy bacon, Iceberg lettuce and tomato tickle my tastebuds!

A bit more seriously, if possible...

Both are quoted at 130 bhp, dont know if anyone has back to back rollered two std ones but they can differ a few BHP anyhow.

You have the differences, turbos are the same as far as I know, boost pressure is also the same according to workshop data.

there were two standard blt engined cars and three asz's at the awesome rolling road day last year, the blt's gave 155/270ft lbs and the asz's 143/235ft lbs same rollers same day within minutes of each other:D
