Featured Replies

Went with a local car club to JDM Dyno (near Carlisle - Cumbria)

Pick of the day was a 476bhp rx-7, lad was only 24 aswell

Anyhow heres my graph

Peak Power 173.5 @ 3865 rpm

Torque = 342.8 lb-ft

So experts what does this graph mean, good or bad?

I have no idea what it should look like :thumbdwn:

bit of a torque spike, but that power curve is awesome, comes in nice and early and holds on well, who mapped the car?

That will be why it screwed my clutch - It was a Star Performance map to my knowledge

looks like a good one:thumbup:

Wehey!!

Was delighted with the torque value and happy that the bhp was 170+

That spike looks almost asif the wheels have spun on the rollers a little, which would give you an erratic torque value at that point, the power curve looks good but most of the star ones I have seen dont drop off on the torque quite as sharply, none the less nice graph

Dont think it could have, all 3 graphs are pretty similar, was in 6th i believe anyway so unlikely to spin?? the vids attatched

Happened to me at a scottishvag meet and gave me 400 and odd lbft :D I never noticed by watching it on the run but jim did when he was winding it up.

But if you have 3 runs then thats pretty unlikley

So my torque drops off a bit quickly?

your like my SWMBO make an innocent passing comment and she panics :D,

I wouldnt say its an issue, probably because it peaks so high it looks more drastic but star are pretty good at having a nice steady curve and its not often they will give you that sort of torque output. Any other mods to go with the map?

/\ pd 160 + green filter, Helix clutch and SMF (dont know if the clutch does out, im not mechanically mided so dont shoot me)

Sounds good, at least you have the clutch to cope with your torque now

Dont get too hooked up on the RR graph too, some do, and its how it feels that actually matters,

I bet you have some bursts of wheelspin in the wet with that peak at that point :D

Yeah 1,2+3rd in the wet are no go area's. good fun though :o

a nice peloquin atb diff would sort that out a treat, have i mentioned they are pretty good before?

i believe looking at he wheelspeed vs revs he actually ran it in 4th:P

/\ probaly, i have no idea, wasn't really watching, was so nervous i never took any of it in. Got my adrenaline going.

LMAO

Out of interest, was it mapped before the clutch and flywheel were in? Just wondering if fitting them has now "sharpened" up the bite and made the torque spike a lot more visible.

Yes it was mapped first by the previos owner, has a switchable star map on it..

When i got the Helix and SMF it sharpened up the gear changes no end - was such an improvement, felt it picked up the revs soo much earlier when changing. As when i first got the car i felt it took ages to pick up after a change - just my experience though :)

are you on commision for these things?

back on topic... pretty decent figures

Yeah I wondered whether it was mapped that way to provide a nice smooth torque curve and then installing a better clutch and lighter flywheel has upset it a bit and now it needs re-remapping to take advantage of it?
