I have a few spare boards lying round which I can probably get replacements off.Question is am I wasting my time. If these are goosed will they have killed anything else or can I get away with just changing these and all will be well

It would probably come back to live if you stick some new ones on!! No harm in trying i say!

p.s. would give it a clean while your at it too!

New ones yes, they are cheap as chips from RS.

Done it plenty of times but don't waste your time with swapping them to make one good board as they are all goosed.

Had a go last night, board completly dead now. I must have killed something. All in the name of experience. At least I now know how to de- solder things.

Luckily a spare board is lurking under the stairs.

Cheers fellas

Lol you didn't put any in backwards did you :P

Have fun with the next one :)

If I'd known I would have said bring them to WSM and then I could have had them fixed up for the cost of caps and postage mate.

You definitely need a fine bit and a TC iron is a good help.

A craftsman like me managed with a £5.99 iron with a 6mm spade tip :P.
