Octy MK1 - Replace driver's side door mirror

Featured Replies

Hi all

How difficult it is to replace the entire door mirror assembly on the driver's side on an Octy MKI (2003)?

Someone clipped me on the way home tonight and the glass and casing has had it.

Any advice on the procedure to remove the door card (I don't have electric windows) and to get the old mirror assembly off would be most appreciated.

Shouldnt need to take the door card off just the triangular plastic cover behind the mirror inside the car then remove 3 torx screws and withdraw mirror housing from door HTH

evbuk is correct, the removal of the doorcard should not be required. The triangular plastic covering he refers to is fairly easy to break at the points where it attaches to the door itself, so be prepared to order another one through ETKA.

What about the cable which adjusts mirror position, though? That sits in the main inside door panel, by the door handle. Surely I'll need to remove the door card in order to remove the current cable and route the new one?

there is away around removing the complete door card, just remove the door card screws and pry the top of the card away and you should be able to get your hand down in to unplug the connector and plug the new one in, i just about managed to do it, might leave some red marks on your hand, but is worth saving the hassle of removing the whole door card.

I had to do mine a couple of weeks ago - took less than 30 mins. The hardest part is getting the electrical connector refitted.

In addition to removing the triangular plastic piece where the mirror fits, I also pulled out the plastic piece where the mirror adjust control is - takes seconds and will give you a bit more room to manouvre and to see where the connector is.

It helps to have small hands

Have fun
