3rd time/clutch lucky!?

Featured Replies

So, I finally got round to taking my car back to Skoda the other day to try and get my juddering clutch sorted. The car went in over christmas when the clutch broke to have a new one fitted, this resulted in me not being able to select gears properly, so another new clutch was fitted as Skoda decided it must have been a faulty clutch they fitted. Second clutch goes in and the clutch does it's job but judders as you pull away or manouver in reverse and creep in traffic. I said at the time the clutch felt juddery but I was told it would get better. So, just over three months later (house move meant I couldn't be arsed to stress with Skoda as well as estate agents/solicitors!) I've gotten round to taking the car back.... again.

I dropped it off on on Sunday night after calling ahead and saying the clutch hadn't improved and I'd like them to look at it again. I said I thought it might be an issue with the flywheel rather than the clutch and also, while they had the car could they sort out a knocking noise from the front end. The next day I got a call to say they were ordering new steering arms to sort the knocking noise which meant they would need the car for a couple more days. ''Not a problem'' I said ''what are you doing about the clutch?'', the main reason I had taken it back! The guy said he had noticed a 'slight' judder but it was nothing for me to worry about at the moment.

The car is currently under warranty so I explained that I wanted the problem sorted out now rather than at my expense when the warranty runs out! I also pointed out that the clutch didn't judder before they set about fitting a new clutch... twice! The guy eventually said he would get in touch woth the warranty company to see if they would allow them to fit a new flywheel, as that's what they suspected the problem might be. I didn't like to remind him that I had suggested it was the flywheel when I dropped the car off!

So, I get another phone call today, the warranty company have asked them to fit ANOTHER new clutch to see if that sorts the problem. 3rd time lucky.... I very much doubt it. JUST CHANGE THE BLOODY FLYWHEEL!!!! :finger:

Sorry, long winded rant over!
