I know what it is.....

Your SMTP logon settings are the same as your tiscali settings...

Can you go into the settings for Outgoing server, and just confirm that the username and password is for your BT address

screeny, this is outlook 07 so may look different

No my smtp log on has been modified to conform to BT’s. This has worked faultlessly for around 2 years, honest. I will wait a few days to see if BT rectifies the alleged fault. The nice chap in India said he had received a lot of calls from England over the last week. Besides, today I have just talked Orange to give me a dongle with high speed link and Unlimited (probably around 3gb) downloads for £15 a month inclusive of VAT. So I expect to be on here again in a couple of weeks when I get the dongle asking how to configure my set up for that

Appreciate the effort though:thumbup:

Ahhh, i see, just proved it myself, it is F**ked.

But as above, i use gmail all the time now, can access it anywhere, even pushed onto my N95 and got the app installed on my kaiser thingy

Good old Microsoft forgot some people in the Security business who created business CD's which ran fine in XP but would not load up in Vista.

You cannot do this to business people. If a CD with valuable data says Windows 98 or later or Windows Millenium or Later then thats hopeless if it sticks on Vista.

The Service Pack 1 for Vista addresses this now various Software security companies have taken issue with Microsoft.

Well thats my understanding.

I am assured it isn’t BT trying to stop us all from emailing (although they do want us to stop using other domains) but a nationwide fault. Can I set my Vista Mail and Outlook express to go though gmail, or do I have to download the prog? My TyTn II works fine with sending through to my Tiscali accounts though.

Still webmail works after a fashion

Whooo hoooo, I just went and did 40 minutes on the turbo trainer to work of my frustration (spent most of the day trying to sort out new address and the like) and BT has fixed their server. It all works again. Might have a go at SP1 again:thumbup:
