I think they are all same on the mk1 octy's. But I'm not 100%

Hoping they are all the same, does the fact that I have rear disk make a difference, need axel from model with rear disks?

Just worried that it would need a axel from a VRS which would be expensive.

Did I search to no avail. Found one thread but he never answered if it was a mk1 or mk2 he had.

So hope this is not going to be expensive

Just had a look at your guide to the shims and its quite bent. Good guide though.

Going to have to put a new axel on it, but fron which car can I use?

One breaking on Ebay here: Skoda octavia VRS 2002-2005 Breaking spares on eBay, also, Skoda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 24-Mar-08 13:00:47 GMT)

Checked the part numbers 1JO500051J for the Octavia rear beam and the same part nimber for the Golf Mk4 with a 21.7mm ARB. (Not sure what model this is though)

The Leon also has the same part number as does the FWD A3.

I guess the Golf Gti, Leon Cupra, A3 1.8t FWD, but you will have to ensure you are getting the right part number.

Thanks for the part number. I'd assume this is stamped on the beam. At least armed with the number I can visit local scrap dealers and get what I need.

Ill post a picture later so you can see how bad it is.

First time I've bent an axel !!!!!!!

Rear axles are compatible between MKIV Golf, Jettas, Leon, and A3. Difference is in the rear sway bar thickness, and the inclusion or not of disc brakes. Also AWD cars are different than FWD.

If you get your hands on a rear drum brake axle, just swap in your spindles/hubs, and rear disc assembly (discs, calipers, carriers, lines, etc).

Well spoke to my mechanic this morning and passed on the wonderful imformation I got here. He was going to the scrap dealers today and seeing if they have the axel I need.

I would like to thank everyone so much for all the help. Was soon ****ed off when I found out it was bent, kinda knew straight after as car not driving straight.

Thanks all

So how did you bend it then ???

Traveling behind a jeep and was thinking of overtaking him. Then I noticed a rock which passed under him as he had good ground clearance. I had to try and get the car around him as my clearance just not as much. I got the front of the car around it and thought I had missed it but caught the rear wheel. It threw the back of the car into the air. I figure the rock was at least 120mm tall.
