Selling Highly modded Skodas, advice please

Featured Replies

It looks like the 4x4 is going to be up for sale very shortly once the fine details of the new motor are sorted. Dont worry I will still be around as we still have 2 other Skodas

Can anyone advise any good places to shift a higly modded Skoda apart from here & Possibly Piston Heads although thats getting a bad name due to the amount of crap in the classified ads.

I would really like it to go to real enthusiast, its been a labour of love building it & I dread to think what its cost, probably 25-30K on top of the purchase price.

I want to treat e-bay as a last resort

Any thoughts appreciated

Looking at Quentins experience, I'd say put it up on here and be extremely patient. Other than Piston Heads, I really don't think its worth advertising it anywhere else.

It will take forever to sell, and you probably wont get what you want for it, but fingers crossed for you anyway mate! :P

The burning question is whats going in the garage to replace it?

All will be revealed once the deals done & dusted

Im hoping as its a bit more sorted & has 4WD which can handle the power it might be a bit easier to shift, Its also in a few Cannonball DVD's etc, perhaps its show biz credentials might help

I did read in one of Stuart's posts elsewhere that it is going to be Japanese. :rubchin:

He's intimated it would be German in the past but who knows with this slippery fish! :P

I would put it on here - if you try something like eBay or Autotrader all you will get is a load of spam mails.

Obviously you want to put up an ad here, and definately also on Pistonheads, but I can really recommend eBay (classified ad, not the auction format). Get as many pictures as you can, put as many items in the ad about the mods, receipts, history, etc, and then sit back and wait. I'd not consider Autotrader as it is geared towards mainstream cars.

Personally I would emphasise the fact that you've got a M3, Scooby, Evo beater without the costs or stigma associated with those.

To those who say that you'll get loads of spam, my experience has been the opposite. I only received a single call from one of those 'we've got 10 buyers waiting, please pay us' agencies, and I quickly told them where to stick it. If you're worried about spam, get a temporary pay&go sim in your phone, and a throw away hotmail address for email.

A well written eBay add might just do the trick actually.

You will probably get a few tyre kickers but sadly that kinda goes with the territory.

Id definately start with an ad on here, and as suggested, classified on ebay :)

Thanks

It will def go on here first, I would really like it to go to a Skoda enthusiast & that way it stands a chance of being looked after.

It will go through the bobyshop shortly to get rid of the stone chips & then its a polish & advertise it. If anyones interested & wants it in a different colour shout now as a total respray could be arranged

Theres allways somebody out there so you just have to be patient, I bought Quintens and at first was a bit hesitant regarding the amount of mods that had been carried out, but as with these cars a full documented history is a must and this one had all the boxes ticked.

Also for the right car people will allways go the extra mile:thumbup:

Well you have been lucky, I know someone who just recently sold their Micra and had over 100 spam mails ! Everything from 'I want to buy this car..my wife is in Berlin, etc I need to ship it, to we want to buy your rare classic car ! Thankfully they too used a hotmail account as well.

I can't believe I have only just seen this thread...

Stuart.. I would say place the ad here first and I'll try to pay a bit more attention to new posts.
